Abstract
Unfortunately, the battery on Red Lion RTUs is not replaceable in the field. The battery is soldered in place and after replaced the RTU should be reinitialized. To replace the battery you must send into Red Lion Repair department. Typical battery life is 10 years. Batteries discharge in about 1.5 to 3months of being powered off. To recharge please allow the RTU to be powered on for a full 24 hours.

Use Case: Replacing the battery
When to replace the battery?
- The battery stores clock state, datalog records stored in NVRAM and retained variables. If none of these are retaining through a power cycle your battery may need to be replaced.
Send the unit in for battery replacement
- To in your device for battery replacement fill in the online RMA request form.
How long does it take for battery to discharge and charge?
- The battery will usually keep the charge between 1.5 to 3months when powered off.
- When battery complete discharges it will take a full 24 hours being powered on to recharge.
