Abstract:
This document describes how to download a Crimson® 3.1 database to a CR1000 HMI that is new from factory and getting a "No reply from remote device" error.
Products:
Red Lion Controls Human Machine Interface (HMI), CR1000 Series.
Use Case:
CR1000 Series HMIs that are fresh from factory starting in early 2023 have been not able to receive a database out of the box. Users have been getting "No reply from remote device" in this case. Clearing the database is required to recover the units.
Solution:
If you have a CR1000 HMI new from factory and are getting "No reply from remote device" when downloading a database do the following:
1) Power off the CR1000.
2) Apply Power again and while the CR1000 is booting up press and hold the reset button down on the side of the unit (near the memory card slot). Hold the reset button down until you get to the System Menu.
3) In the System Menu go into Database Utilities and clear the database. Back out of the System Menu and press Continue.
4) The HMI will say "invalid database" and is ready to receive a database.
