The EL series supports multiple configurations to be stored in the switch, and up to two different firmware versions. The procedures to set the startup files are nearly identical for configuration files and firmware images. The only difference is that you must select config instead of opcode, as needed. To configure the firmware image and configuration to load at startup, do the following:
Web Configuration
- Log into the switch with your username and password (default: admin/admin).
- If you do not need to create a configuration file, proceed to step 3. If you need to create a configuration file from your current configuration, go to the Copy operations screen under File Management. Select running-config to file and either select an existing configuration to overwrite or enter a new configuration name in the box provided. Click Apply.
- To set the startup configuration, go to the Set Start-up screen under File Management.
- Click the button next to the firmware (Operation Code) and config file you want to use at startup, and then click Apply.
- To make the configuration and firmware files active, you must restart the switch. To do so, you can either cycle power to the switch, or choose Log>Reset from the System tree. In the Reset screen, you can specify a restart time (in hours and minutes), or to restart immediately enter a zero in both fields and click the Reset button.
CLI Configuration
- Log into the switch with your username and password (default: admin/admin)
- If you do not need to create a configuration file, proceed to step 3. If you need to create a configuration file from your current configuration, type copy running-config file, and enter the desired name of the configuration file when prompted.
- To set the startup configuration file, type boot system config:<filename>. If you do not know the name of the configuration file, first type dir and press Enter to view the list of files currently in the switch.
- To set the startup firmware image, type boot system opcode:<filename>. If you do not know the name of the firmware image file, first type dir and press Enter to view the list of files currently in the switch.
- To make the configuration and firmware files active, you must restart the switch. To do this, type reload, then confirm that you would like to restart the switch.
