All configuration management on the EL series can be done in both the Web interface and the command-line (CLI) interface. In the Web interface, these pages are located in the System menu under File Management. The EL series supports the storage of multiple configurations in the switch, and up to two different firmware versions.
HTTP Download (Web only)
- Log into the switch with your username and password (default: admin/admin).
- To create a configuration file to save, proceed to step 3. If the configuration file is already saved to the switch, proceed to step 7.
- From the File management menu, select the Copy Operation menu.
- In the first drop-down list, select running-config to file.
- Under destination file name, either select an existing configuration file name or type a new name in the box provided.
- Click Apply to create the configuration file. To download the configuration file to your computer, proceed to step 7.
- From the File management menu, select the HTTP Download screen.
- Click the button next to the file you wish to download and click Apply.
- You are prompted to open or save the file. Choose save, and then select the location on your computer of the saved file.
TFTP or FTP Download (Web)
- Log into the switch with your username and password (default: admin/admin)
- From the File management menu, select the Copy Operation menu.
- In the first drop-down list, select running-config to FTP (or TFTP) if the configuration file does not yet exist, or file to FTP (or TFTP) if there is an existing configuration file.
- For a copy from a running configuration, specify the TFTP server address and the name you would like the file to have when it is downloaded. For FTP, you also need to specify a username and password.
- When selecting an existing file, you must specify the file type (config) and the name of the source configuration you would like to copy.
- Click Apply to begin the file transfer. A window appears indicating the status of your transfer. If this window does not appear, confirm that you do not have a popup blocker enabled on your Web browser.
TFTP or FTP Download (CLI)
1. Log into the switch with your username and password (default: admin/admin).
2. Do one of the following:
- To copy the running configuration to your FTP/TFTP server, type copy running-config ftp (or tftp).
- To copy an existing configuration file, type copy file ftp (or tftp).
If you do not know the name of the file you wish to transfer, first type dir to see the list of current files.
3. You are prompted to enter the following information:
- File type (choose config in this case)
- Source filename (only if copying from a file, not needed if copying from the running config)
- FTP/TFTP server IP address
- Username (FTP only)
- Password (FTP only)
- Destination filename (whatever you want it to be)
4. The switch then initiates the transfer and indicates success or failure.
