Abstract
This tech note will explain how to enable default settings for the NT5000 series using the command line. This procedure may be used when the custom device login credentials are lost or unknown. For security these steps cannot be done from over IP web browser, Telnet, or SSH sessions.
N-Tron® Series NT5000 (All Models)
In order to reset the device to factory defaults, complete the following steps:
1. Connect a serial cable to the switch USB micro serial port and launch the terminal application. The switch serial interface is located next to the green power terminal connector.
2. Press ESC to begin the factory default process. Note: If the terminal is showing the
options for entering Username or Password hit enter until the following is displayed in the terminal or restart the switch.
3. Confirm the reset by entering the switch's unique MAC address and press Enter.
4. The switch will restart with factory default settings.
Note - Based on your application and security requirements, consider disabling SNMPv1 and SNMPv2 once the switch completes the boot process.
