Required Software: Crimson 3.2
FlexEdge devices support TCP/IP and USB (serial) connections.
1. Connecting over TCP/IP:
Note: Connecting over TCP/IP will require a username and password to authenticate the device and update firmware. See next section below on how to find DA50A and DA70A default username and password.
FlexEdge Series have two Ethernet ports that are enabled out of the box. The first ethernet port is enabled for auto-DHCP, and the second port is enabled with a Static local area network address (IP: 192.168.222.222 & Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0) as shown below:
On the PC that has Crimson 3.2, set up the PCs Local Area Network (LAN) Interface to be on the same subnet as the default IP on the FlexEdge device's second Ethernet port.
Open Crimson 3.2, click File then select New and select the model that you are programming. Once the model of the file is selected and configured, click Link then select Options.
In the options window, check TCP/IP and enter the address of 192.168.222.222, then select Ok to close the options window.
To download your Crimson 3.2 file to your FlexEgde, click Link again, and this time select Send. The download process will start.
Crimson will not return a successful download message. The window that shows up once you select link send, will simply disappear once the download successfully completes. Crimson will provide error messages if the download fails.
2. FlexEdge Default Username and Password Discovery:
DA50A Models:
Default Username: Admin
Default Password can be found on each DA50A device on the left side of the unit when looking at its face like below.
DA70A Models:
Default Username: Admin
Default password can be found on the right sides of a DA70A model, but the 3-sled slot housing must be removed first to expose the label on the side of the unit like below.
3. Connecting over USB Serial
Note: Connection over USB can be done using any USB type A to B printer cable. Crimson does not require any authentication for this method. The connection from the PC with Crimson 3.2 and to the FlexEdge is a serial communications port connection, and not USB.
Connect your USB printer cable to your FlexEdge. On your PC, go to your device manager. Locate and expand Ports (Com & LPT). You will see the USB printer cable interface show up there with an assigned communications port number like below.
Take note of the number your PC is using, then open Crimson 3.2.
In the Crimson 3.2 file, click Link then select Options. Check or enter the assigned com port number that your PC is using like below. Com ports 1 through 4 can be checked, whereas com port 5 can accept 5 and any higher number than 5.
Once you match the com port number under Link-options, click OK to close the options window.
To start the USB serial, download, click Link then select Send.
Crimson will not return a successful download message. The window that shows up once you select link send, will simply disappear once the download successfully completes. Crimson will provide error messages if the download fails.
