Red Lion NT4008 Industrial Ethernet Switch IP Routing Tech Note
Abstract
The NT4008 has a powerful feature that will allow inter-VLAN routing between interfaces. This tech note will explain the web user interface (UI) IP Mode feature used to configure the IP stack as a router. After reading this document, you will understand how to:
- Enable routing traffic between all interfaces.
- Create IP Interfaces.
NT4800 Managed Ethernet Switch (All Models)
Note: The maximum number of interfaces supported is 8 and the maximum number of routes is 32. This example is based on the network topology.
The NT4008 IP Mode settings are under Configuration> System> IP to enable inter-VLAN routing. This setting should be changed from Host to Router.
Create the IP VLAN interfaces under IP Interfaces
Configure switch VLAN settings under Configuration> System> VLANs. Here VLANs 10, 20, are allowed and Port VLAN configuration has VLAN10 on port 2 and VLAN20 on port 4 set.
ICMP results pinging from the laptop on VLAN10 to a device on VLAN20.
