Abstract
Create a project that can be used as a template for future projects by exporting the project to XML format. Save project created in Red Lion Workbench or a downloaded project by saving the template project to C:\Users\Public\Documents\RedLionWorkbench.

Use Case: Create or download a template project and use it to create new Red Lion Workbench projects
Required Software
Red Lion Workbench version 1.0.3 or greater.
After creating a new project template and export it as an XML file
- With project open go to Tools > Export…
- Select “Export a complete project (XML).
- Select the project to export from the list.
- Save the project in xml format to a known location on computer.
The XML archived project can be archived or used as a template for future projects.
Save *.xml file so it can be used as a template
- Find your saved project in xml format or download the xml template project from this technical note on www.redlion.net.
- Save the xml template file to the C:\Users\Public\Documents\RedLionWorkbench directory.
Create a new project from a template
- After the template project is stored in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\RedLionWorkbench directory.
- Go to File > Add New Project…
- Select “From template.” Select destination folder, then create project name and comment.
- Click Next, then select the template you want to create project from. Click next and finish

VT_mIPm_138_D Template Project
- This template is made as a start for the VT-mIPm-138-D product. It has the onboard I/O defined in the project profile and watchlist.
- To view the profile configuration click on the profile icon on the tool bar. View the “RL Section.” View the watchlist in the project workspace.
- Download VT_mIPm_138_D.XML below.
VT_mIPm_248_D Template Project
- This template is made as a start for the VT-mIPm-138-D product. It has the onboard I/O defined in the project profile and watchlist.
