Software:

Use Case / Problem Solved:
In the event that you cannot access the Web GUI or have a file on the Red Lion Sixnet series device that is not accessible via the Web GUI you can connect to your Red Lion device using Telnet/SSH and download the file using the Zmodem transfer protocol.
Logging into the Device
Step 1. Open Up TeraTerm
Step 2. Input the IP address of the Sixnet series device into the Host section, and select Telnet.
Step 3. Click “OK” and the following login screen will be presented:
Step 4. For the login type “rlcuser”. For the password input the last six digits of the serial number of your device.
NOTE: You will notice that as you type the password nothing is displayed, this is a security feature.
You will now see a screen like this. You are logged in however you do not have root privileges.
Step 5.) At the command prompt type “su” then hit “ENTER” key. You will then be prompted for the password which again is the last six digits of the serial number of your device.
NOTE: You will notice that as you type the password nothing is displayed, this is a security feature.
The following screen will be displayed, now indicating root access.
Using SZ command in TeraTerm to Download files from your Sixnet series device
- You need to move to the directory where the file is located using the “cd” In this example we are moving to the /tmp/ directory by typing “cd /tmp”.
2. Now that you are in the directory where the file is located you can use the “sz” command to retrieve the file. In this example you will be retrieving the file named test.cap by running the command “sz test.cap”.
3. Go to File>Transfer>ZMODEM>Receive
This will start the transfer process.
4. Once the transfer has completed the file has been copied to the root directory of Tera Term. For Windows 7 x64 that directory is C:/Program Files (x86)/teraterm.
