Abstract
Using the clear configuration function in the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit will change the Network 1 ip address to 10.1.0.1 and Network 2 IP address to 192.168.0.1. To successfully complete the clear configuration the first time without an error the computer with Sixnet I/O Tool Kit installed must have IP aliases of the current IP address and default IP address.

Use Case: Clearing configuration from RTU via Ethernet
Required Software
Sixnet I/O Tool Kit 7.0.100 or above
Set IP address aliases in the computer
Set computer Network Interface Card (NIC) to have multiple IP addresses. For full instructions on setting multiple alias IP addresses on the NIC see the following instructions: http://woshub.com/assign-multiple-ip-addresses-single-nic-windows/
Aliases show that the computer’s NIC has multiple IP addresses assigned by opening the command prompt and typing the command ipconfig, as shown in Figure 1. . The computer NIC shown below has the 10.1.0.0, 192.168.0.0 and 172.16.0.0 subnets set. This way when the RTUs IP address is changed from one subnet to another it is still able to communicate.

Clear Configuration in the RTU
In the desired configuration go to Operations>>Advanced Operations>>Clear Configuration. Once the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit detects the configuration in the RTU it will display on the clear configuration window, shown in Figure 2. When the clear configuration operation gets to the Tool Kit Configuration the IP address will be set to tool kit default. When the new IP address is set and the computer has the correct alias in its NIC the communication will successfully complete.
